Delegates to Elect AVCA Board Members Tonight
The annual delegate meeting takes place Monday at City Hall.
New Aliso Viejo Community Association board members will be elected tonight during the annual delegate meeting at Aliso Viejo City Hall.
Candidates met with delegates on June 19 at the Aliso Viejo Country Club for the candidate forum. Delegates from some of the Aliso Viejo’s largest associations and a representative from City Lights Apartments joined in the discussion.
According to Ross Chun, the outgoing AVCA president, apartment communities don’t usually participate, but they were a “welcomed addition” to the forum.

Chun said the questions ranged from candidate experience and qualifications, the AVCA budget, the economy’s impact on AVCA revenue and the city’s discussions to possibly take ownership of Aliso Viejo parks.
“As the outgoing president, I opened the event with an overview of board member responsibilities, and an explanation of the time commitment that would be necessary to fulfill the role,” Chun said. “The candidates who were new to the association acknowledged that they learned a great deal about AVCA from taking part in the forum and look forward to the opportunity to serve.”

Katie Koster, AVCA’s outgoing vice president added that there is a need for great commitment when taking on a board member role.
The candidates have a range of experience including a current and past AVCA board member and Aliso Viejo residents new to association business.
Delegates will meet beginning at 5 p.m. on Monday. Voting will begin around 6 p.m. or once quorum is met.
