New affordable senior community in Aliso Viejo opens, offers 2-bedroom units, fitness center, saltwater pool – for $1,360

Finding affordable housing in southern Orange County is challenging – and almost impossible for lower-income seniors.

But a new affordable senior community in Aliso Viejo offers two-bedroom apartments for $1,360 per month, about 40% less than other nearby market-rate properties, and some hard-to-find amenities regardless of the price – a large community center, a fitness room, saltwater pool and spa, 24-hour laundry facilities and even a pet-washing station (residents are allowed two pets, as long as they are no more than 25 pounds).

Vintage Aliso attracted much attention during construction, clearly an indication of the demand for affordable housing in the region. Many of the apartments have been leased, but some remain for those 55 years and older who meet the income limits – about $50,000 or less per year for a two-person household.

Seniors interested in Vintage Aliso are encouraged to attend a free Open House and Health Faire 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 5) at the community, 2C Liberty in Aliso Viejo (near Aliso Viejo Parkway).

All of the 202 apartments feature energy-efficient appliances, ceiling fans in every room, walk-in closets and a patio or balcony. Vintage Aliso is close to shopping centers, a public park, library branch and within a half-mile from public transportation.

Roseville-based USA Properties Fund, one of the largest affordable community developer-owner-managers in the West, and Foundation for Affordable Housing in Laguna Beach are partners on Vintage Aliso.
