Tilly's Life Center Empowers and Awards Local Orange County Teen

Tilly’s Life Center (TLC) awarded its graduate, teen ambassador and advocate, Adia Edwards, with an Angel Flight to the 21st Annual Stars and Stripes Charity Fundraiser held from June 22-25, 2017 at the Hilton Los Cabos Beach and Golf Resort in Mexico. More than 700 attendees gathered for deep-sea fishing, music festivals and golf to raise money for youth charities in Orange County, San Diego and Baja, California.

During the cocktail reception on closing night, TLC’s Executive Director, Monica Utley proudly recognized Adia and shared her story with guests through a letter she had written to the program.

“Growing up, I was constantly bullied and felt like I had no one to turn to, I needed a support system, and TLC was perfect,” said Adia Edwards, a TLC graduate and teen ambassador. “With TLC’s support, I developed my social and problem solving skills and started engaging in deep, healing conversations that helped me get
through hard times. I will forever love TLC, their leadership, my newfound friends and most importantly - me.”

Stars and Stripes provides its attendees with an unforgettable experience featuring happy hours and private concerts on the beach to themed pool parties and top-notch musical entertainment. The four-day adventure kicked-off with a Dia de los Muertos pool party, a silent auction and dinner.

Event-goers enjoyed an action-packed weekend featuring deep-sea fishing excursions, spa services, golfing on Cabo San Lucas’ finest courses and relaxing poolside. Golfers embraced the natural beauty of the Baja desert and stunning views of the Sea of Cortez as they competed and participated on hole activations featuring games, drinks, giveaways and contests for a chance to win prizes.

Each evening, guests were invited to dance under the stars to an all-star lineup featuring: Kelly Hansen of Foreigner, Mickey Thomas of Jefferson Starship and Cameron Rafferty.
