Yorba Linda Residents, Off-Duty Deputy Aid In Arrest Of Armed Robbery Suspect

After multiple attempts to get the suspect to surrender, an OCSD K-9 was deployed and apprehended the suspect.

A man suspected of committing a robbery at a Yorba Linda commercial business Tuesday night is in custody after several residents spotted the suspect and notified the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

At about 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, the Sheriff’s Department received reports of a male subject, who had taken a high-value audio speaker, brandished a knife to store employees, and immediately fled the scene.

Deputies, along with the Aviation Support Bureau’s Duke 1, responded, immediately set up a perimeter and started search efforts to locate the suspect.

Several residents, including an off-duty law enforcement official, provided information to Orange County Sheriff’s Department dispatchers which was in turn provided to the personnel on scene.

Just before 8 p.m., an off-duty Orange County Sheriff’s deputy saw a man matching the suspect’s description. Deputies located the suspect near Yorba Linda Boulevard and La Palma Avenue. After multiple attempts to get the suspect to surrender, an OCSD K-9 was deployed and apprehended the suspect.
