Video: 14 Lifeguards Fired for Filming Music Video at City Pool
El Monte officials said the lifeguards were fired for filming the remake of viral music video "Gangnam Style" on City property.
Fourteen lifeguards were fired from their jobs at the El Monte public pool after filming a remake of viral music video "Gangman Style,"according to multiple sources.

The video, called "Lifeguard Style" shows the group of young people dressed in red swimwear dancing and lip-syncing to South Korean rapper PSY's music in and around several swimming pools.Â

According to a statement released by City officials, the lifeguards violated employment contracts they signed that stated they were to ‘under no circumstances use any city property for his/her own private use or benefit. Such unauthorized use shall be cause for disciplinary action.’

That disciplinary action was carried out on Wednesday and the lifeguards were fired, CBSLA reported.
The group of lifeguards launched a Facebook page called "Bring back the 14 El Monte Lifeguards," which has received more than 5,000 likes since being launched on Thursday.

The "Lifeguard Style" 14 have also circulated a Change.org petition and have received more than 4,660 signatures.
