Baldwin Park Army Staff Sergeant to be Named Dodger's Military Hero of the Game

Staff Sgt. Jesus Martinez will be named as the Military Hero of the Game at Monday's Freeway Series game.

BALDWIN PARK, CA - A Baldwin Park Army staff sergeant will be named as the Military Hero of the Game at Monday night's Freeway Series games between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

U.S. Army Staff Sgt. Jesus Martinez of Baldwin Park. Martinez joined the Army in 2006, was deployed in Iraq from 2007 to 2008 and in Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. He returned Afghanistan in 2012 as a communications patrol sergeant. Martinez is now an Army recruiter in Lakewood.

The national anthem will be sung by Grammy-nominated songwriter and recording artist Victoria Monet.

A special wrap will also be available at Dodger Stadium for Monday's and Tuesday's Freeway Series games.

The Freeway Series Wrap consists of a grilled chicken breast, sundried tomatoes, pickled red onions and fresh spinach in a whole wheat tortilla. It will be available in limited supply at the Marketplace on the field level and Healthy Carts on the loge and reserve levels.

Auto gates will open at 4:40 p.m. and stadium gates at 5:10 p.m. The Dodgers will take batting practice from 4:20-5:20 p.m. and the Angels from 5:25- 6:20 p.m. Pregame ceremonies, including the national anthem and ceremonial first pitch, will begin at 6:57 p.m., with the game set to start at 7:10 p.m.
