Baldwin Park Promotes California's "Stay Home" & County of L.A.'S "Safer At Home" Directives

The Mayor and City Council encourage Baldwin Park residents and businesses to learn more about California’s and the County of Los Angeles’s orders by logging on to: www.COVID19.ca.gov and https://lacounty.gov/covid19/ Here you will find specific information and preventative measures to ensure your well being and that of your family and friends. Information is available in various languages including Spanish.

California’s “Stay Home” directive asks Californians to heed the current State public health directives and stay home except for permitted personal activity including enjoying the outdoors and running essential errands. It also provides specific instructions on how to implement social distancing and defines essential from non-essential actions. These recommendations are in full effect from March 19, 2020 until further notice and were enacted in order to prevent COVID-19 from proliferating exponentially.

The County’s “Safer at Home” directive is in effect from March 19, 2020 to April 19, 2020 and further provides specific instructions on what personal activities can be performed including:

  • Going to the grocery store
  • Getting medication or supplies
  • Going to the bank or post office
  • Call a plumber, electrician or exterminator
  • Going to the gas station or auto repair shop
  • Riding public transit, walk or bike

It also provides crucial information for employers and businesses to determine whether or not they provide an essential service within Los Angeles County and points out administrative exemptions for those affected by COVID-19.

“The State of California and the County of Los Angeles have laid out their game plan on how to beat COVID-19. The best way is to stay safe at home and practice plenty of social distancing when running essential errands or coming to and from permitted employment activities.” Stated Mayor Manuel Lozano. “I am proud of my colleagues on the City Council for swiftly establishing a local emergency status last week and our competent staff for implementing the declaration’s key components. The action conveyed our commitment to readiness and precaution in times of need.”
