BALDWIN PARK, CA — All but one lane of the eastbound San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Baldwin Park was closed Wednesday morning during the morning commute due to an overturned big rig in lanes that was struck by another vehicle.

The semi crashed about 1:30 a.m. as the driver made the transition from the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway to the eastbound I-10 San Bernardino Freeway.

An SUV then struck the overturned big rig, according to the California Highway Patrol.

"(The driver) was traveling too fast for the roadway conditions," a CHP official told reporters at the scene. "(The big rig) overturned onto its side and slid across all lanes of the (San Bernardino) Freeway. "

The wreckage blocked the carpool and Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 lanes of the freeway. Only the No. 5 lane was open to traffic until after the morning rush, the CHP said.
