Coastal Flooding, Mountain Thunderstorms This Week: Baldwin Park
Batten down the hatches and grab the surfboards, as coastal flooding and thunderstorms are expected across the southland. Plan ahead!

BALDWIN PARK, CA — Minor coastal flooding is possible at high tide, Thursday and into Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
The advisory will be in effect until 11 p.m. Saturday. A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
"Low lying parking lots near the water's edge may experience minor tidal overflow during the highest tide for the next few evenings," warned an NWS statement.
In L.A. County, the highest tides will include 7.2 feet at 9:16 p.m. Thursday, and 7.1 feet at 10:03 pm Friday. In Orange County high tide of 7 feet will occur between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

The National Weather Service warned Orange County that the beaches most susceptible to flooding during high tides will be Sunset Beach, Newport Beach and Seal Beach, while elevated surf of 3-6 feet is expected in L.A. County, mainly on south-facing beaches.
But even more dangerous, "there will be a high risk of rip currents at area beaches for the next couple of days."

Swimmers caught in a rip current should relax and try to swim parallel to the coast until able to break free.
Temperatures, meanwhile, remained high but closer to normal than in recent days.
Isolated showers were possible in several areas of L.A. County Thursday, including the San Fernando Valley and the Santa Monica Mountains Recreational Area. Also possible are thunderstorms in the San Gabriel Mountains and Antelope Valley.
The NWS forecast a mixture of partly and mostly cloudy skies in L.A. County and highs of 78 at LAX; 82 in Avalon; 85 in Long Beach; 88 in Downtown L.A.; 90 in San Gabriel; 91 in Burbank; 92 in Pasadena; 93 in Saugus; and 96 in Palmdale and Lancaster.
