Coroner IDs Homeless Man, Fatally Struck In Car

A homeless man died after being struck while sleeping in his parked car.

PACOIMA, CA - A homeless man who was struck and killed while sleeping in his parked car was identified, Monday, authorities said. The victim was hit by a pickup truck, the driver of which ran from the scene.

The crash near Telfair Avenue and Branford Street occurred just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday, said Officer Norma Eisenman of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section.

Daniel Hernandez Gayosso, 35, died at hospital, according to the coroner's office.

The suspect's pickup truck struck several parked vehicles, and he fled on foot, Eisenman said. According to reports from the scene, drug paraphernalia and empty beer bottles were found inside the truck.
