Couple Arrested in Connection with West Covina JC Penney Robbery
The couple with two children walked out of a JC Penny store at the Westfield mall in West Covina with stolen items stuffed in a baby stroller.
An Ontario couple arrested as the result of tips identifying them after their photos were posted on a newspaper website in connection with a robbery and assault at a JC Penney Store in West Covina are scheduled to be arraigned Friday.
Roman Daniel Landero, 36, and Monica Belen Ortiz, 24, were arrested when West Covina Police Department detectives served warrants at the home where they were staying in the 1700 block of East D Street on Wednesday, Officer Rudy Lopez said.
The detectives received the tip after the pictures appeared on the website of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Lopez said.

The robbery and assault occurred on Feb. 24.
A 7-month-old infant was found at the home and was released to a family member.

Bail has been set for $500,000 each defendant. Arraignment was scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Friday in West Covina Superior Court.
