Four Suspects In Custody After Liquor Store Barricade in Basset

Deputies were called to Mickey's Liquor at 13512 Valley Blvd., near the border with Industry.

Four suspects were taken into custody as deputies responded to the scene of an attempted robbery at a liquor store in the unincorporated area of Bassett, just South of Baldwin Park.

Deputies were called to Mickey's Liquor at 13512 Valley Blvd., near the border with Industry, at 3:35 p.m., said Deputy Donald Hicks of the sheriff's Industry Station.

Initially, two people who came out of the store and were quickly taken into custody, said Sgt. Mark Stonich of the sheriff's Industry Station.

Two more came out of the store, got a handgun, and ran back into the store.

Deputies brought dogs and sharpshooters and eventually the two inside were caught, Stonich said.

Video surveillance showed that the two who had been barricaded inside were stashing either money and drugs or guns around the store. A search of the store was underway, Stonich said.
