Man Fatally Shot Near Nogales High School Identified
A man who was killed in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in the Industry area was identified today.

A man who was killed in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting in the Industry area was identified today.
The gunfire erupted at Altario Street and Gendel Drive about 10 a.m. Monday, according to the sheriff's department. Johnny Richards, 28, of La Puente was fatally wounded, coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said.
After the shooting, an occupant of one vehicle drove a short distance to the area of Nogales High School, in the 18900 block of East Northam Street, where medical help was sent. Richards died at that location, and a person who was also wounded was taken to a hospital. His condition was unknown.

The high school was briefly placed on lockdown as a precaution while an investigation was conducted. Detectives determined there was no relationship between the shooting and the school. No arrests were reported.
