Man Shot and Injured by Officer

An officer-involved shooting in El Monte today left a man wounded, authorities said.

The shooting was reported in the 3500 block of Cogswell Road shortly before 4 a.m., said Sgt. Rich Pena of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau.

The 34-year-old man was taken to a hospital in unknown condition, Pena said. No officers were injured.

Sheriff's detectives were assisting El Monte police in the investigation into the circumstances of the shooting.
