Matt's Run

Join the Cal Poly Pomona community, in a memorial 5k to raise scholarship funds for students dedicated to serving their communities.

Help raise scholarships for Cal Poly Pomona students dedicated to serving communities while also helping to preserve a legacy.
Matt’s Run is an annual university tradition that celebrates the life of Matthew Myers, who died in 2005 after a car struck him on campus. After his death, his family decided to sponsor an event that would honor his passion for serving others and inspire future students to do the same.

Since 2006, the 5K run/walk has drawn thousands of people from the campus and surrounding communities. The Matthew Myers Memorial Scholarship Fund endowment has provided over 60 awards since its conception, and adds to that number every year.
This year’s run will be held Oct. 18 at 8 a.m.

The route starts at Parking Lot F9 and ends at the W.K. Kellogg Arabian Horse Center.

The course takes runners and walkers through the university’s scenic landscape, from orange groves to vineyards to pastures. Along the way, participants also can get close-up views of horses and farm animals.

Runners and walkers of all ages and levels are welcome. Registration is $20 for students of all ages and $35 for non-students. Day-of-event registration is an additional $5. All early registrants will receive a T-shirt and logo item. Prizes will be given to the top male and female finishers in various age categories. The Myers family will present the Myers Cup to the most spirited group or organization at the race.
