Motorcyclist Killed on 210 Freeway

The man was ejected from his motorcycle after a van swerved into his lane and struck him, Thursday morning.

A Crescent City man was killed Thursday morning after being ejected from his motorcycle on the 210 Freeway east of Fruit Street in Baldwin Park, according to the California Highway Patrol.    
 
James Chappell, 29, was traveling westbound in the carpool lane on his 2002 Honda CBR600 when a 2010 Ford van swerved into his lane to avoid rapidly slowing vehicles ahead.

Chappell attempted to slow down, but was struck by the van.The Los Angeles County Fire Department and CHP responded to the scene and called in an air evacuation. Because of his injuries, Chappell was combative and could not be airlifted from the scene, according to officials.

He was later driven to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton. Chappell died at 8:33 a.m.
