Although a 13-day streak of increases on the average price of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County ended Friday, the average price of gas in the county remained over $4.Â
The average gas price in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent to $4.093.
In Baldwin Park, although the cheapest gas is $4.00 a gallon at Kwik Serv Gasoline at 3648 Baldwin Park Blvd., several stations advertised unleaded prices above $4, topping out at $4.26 a gallon at Rivergrade Service Station.
The average price rose 20 cents during the streak, including two-tenths of a cent on Thursday, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.
The average price is 7.1 cents more than one week ago and 9.3 cents higher than one month ago, but 31.2 cents less than one year ago.
The Orange County average price fell two-tenths of a cent today to $4.069, the first daily decrease since May 3. It had risen 11 consecutive days, was unchanged Wednesday and rose one-tenth of a cent Thursday.
The Orange County average price is 7 cents more than one week ago and 10.7 cents higher than one month ago but 31.4 cents less than one year ago.
"Wholesale prices have dropped rapidly in the last couple of days, and the retail prices rose by just fractions of a cent between Wednesday and Thursday, indicating we may be near a plateau,'' said Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
