The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County declined today for the fifth consecutive day, and now sits at $4.306.

The average price is a half cent less than Saturday, 1.6 cents less than a week ago and 7 cents lower than a year ago, but 30 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

Until six days ago, gas prices had gone up for 32 of the previous 33 days.
In Orange County, the average price declined today to $4.294, down six- tenths of a cent from Saturday.

That's the fourth consecutive day of slight decreases, after rising 33 of the previous 34 days. It is now 1.8 cents less than one week ago and 6.5 cents lower than one year ago, but 30.3 cents more than one month ago.
The dropping prices are the result of decreasing prices for oil and gasoline futures, caused by an increase in fuel supplies stemming from increased production by refineries, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
