Southland Gas Prices Keep Dropping

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County fellon Sunday for the 11th time in 12 days, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.255.

The average price is 5.1 cents less than one week ago and 13.5 cents lower than one year ago, but 9.8 cents more than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

L.A. County prices had gone up 32 of the previous 33 days.

The Orange County average price fell today for the 11th consecutive day, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $4.24. It is 5.4 cents less than one week ago and 13.3 cents lower than one year ago, but 9.8 cents more than one month ago.

Orange County prices had risen 33 of the previous 34 days. The dropping pump prices coincide with a sharp drop in wholesale gasoline prices connected with most California refineries concluding their scheduled maintenance in advance of the switch to sales of summer blend gasoline without major incidents, assuring a satisfactory supply, according to Jeffrey Spring of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
