UPDATE: 300-Acre Brush Fire Fully Contained Near Moreno Valley

UPDATE: The fire was 100 percent contained to 300.5 acres at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. All fire resources have cleared the scene.

MORENO VALLEY, CA β€” A brush fire burning near Moreno Valley Tuesday afternoon has charred 300 acres and was 5 percent contained.

The blaze reported at 1:22 p.m. at the Davis Road and Theodore Street intersection, southeast of the city, forced the closure of Gilman Springs Road although the roadway has since reopened, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists are asked to drive carefully through the area.

Shortly after 3 p.m., Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department reported crews had stopped the blaze's forward progress.
