4 SoCal Beaches Among Nation's Best 'Secret' Beaches

Family Destinations Guide surveyed 3,000 families nationwide to learn about the "best hidden beaches" ahead of the summer season.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA β€” Eight beaches in California, including four in Southern California, were ranked among the "best hidden beaches" in the country, according to a new study.

Family Destinations Guide surveyed 3,000 families nationwide to learn about their favorite secret beaches ahead of the summer season.

California landed the second-most beaches on the top-100 list, with eight making the ranks. Two Golden State beaches ranked in the top 10. Orange County's Salt Creek Beach in Dana Point ranked seventh and Marin County's Wildcat Beach in Point Reyes National Seashore ranked eighth.

Florida clinched the top spot with nine overall, including four in the top 10. Hawaii came in third with five beaches on the list and three in the top 10.

  • No. 12: Hollywood Beach in Oxnard, Ventura County
  • No. 21: Enderts Beach near Crescent City, Del Norte County
  • No. 22: Bowling Ball Beach near Point Arena, Mendocino County
  • No. 25: Gray Whale Cove State Beach near Pacifica, San Mateo County
  • No. 33: MontaΓ±a de Oro State Park near Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo
  • No. 35: Haskell's Beach in Goleta, Santa Barbara County
