Aircraft Crashes Near Edwards AFB, Crew Safely Ejects

MOJAVE DESERT, CA — Two crew members of a National Test Pilot School Impala MB-326 aircraft safely ejected from the plane before it crashed Friday morning in the Mojave Desert near Edwards Air Force Base, officials confirmed.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m., about 10 miles northwest of Edwards AFB, according to a statement from the National Test Pilot School in Mojave.

The two crew members — the only people aboard the aircraft — were conducting test training, according to the statement.

There were no reports of injuries on the ground in the remote desert area.

The National Transportation Safety Board has been contacted, according to the statement.

A statement from Edwards AFB indicated the non-military aircraft originated from the Mojave Air & Space Port and crashed in a remote base area.
