Another Assaulted At MoVal School Where Boy Was Fatally Attacked

The latest case happened at the same campus where a 13-year-old boy was attacked just weeks ago and later died.

MORENO VALLEY, CA β€” Sheriff's officials are again investigating a violent encounter between middle school students in Moreno Valley. The latest incident involves an attack on a 12-year-old girl at Landmark Middle School earlier this week, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The attack happened on Monday just after noon at the same school where 13-year-old Diego was attacked on Sept. 16, according to sheriff's Sgt. Victor Tejeda. Diego died nine days later.

In Monday's assault, a total of three girls were involved.

"The ensuing investigation led to the identification of two Landmark Middle School female students, 12 and 13 years-old," Tejeda said in a news release. "The suspects approached and assaulted the victim during lunch."

Tejeda said the two suspects were arrested and taken to the Riverside County Juvenile Hall on suspicion of committing battery on school grounds.

"The victim was treated by the school nurse for minor abrasions and complaint of pain," he said. "The victim was subsequently released to her mother."

It wasn't immediately clear if the District Attorney's Office would file at petition in Juvenile court.

Just days before this attack, Moreno Valley Unified School District hosted a "Solutions Through Community Collaboration" meeting at the school "...to discuss the topics of safety, security and bullying prevention of our students."
