Average Gas Price Near Pass Area Rises For 3rd Consecutive Day

The average price is 28.2 cents higher than one year ago and has risen 75.6 cents since the start of the year, data shows.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA β€” The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Riverside County rose 2 cents Friday to $4.024, the third consecutive increase following a 15-day streak of decreases.

Despite Friday's increase and rising two-tenths of a cent on Wednesday and three-tenths of a cent Thursday, the average price is 1.8 cents less than one week ago and 4.4 cents lower than one month ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. However, it is 28.2 cents higher than one year ago and has risen 75.6 cents since the start of the year.

"Breakdowns at the Chevron refinery in El Segundo and the Phillips 66 refinery in Wilmington sent wholesale Los Angeles gasoline prices up by more than 40 cents this week," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.

"We would normally start to see prices drop significantly in November after stations start selling the cheaper winter blend of gasoline, but this supply glitch will delay that price decline."

The average price dropped 16 cents during the 15-day streak of decreases.
