Back-To-Back Calimesa Robberies End In Multiple Arrests

BANNING, CA - An 18-year-old man suspected of joining several others in holding up a Calimesa convenience store and gas station in back-to-back robberies was free on bond Tuesday.

Ronald Samuel Ramirez of Yucaipa was arrested Friday and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of armed robbery and conspiracy.

Ramirez posted a $30,000 bond Monday night and was freed from jail.

Arrested with him were 21-year-old Dylan Jacob Heberden of Calimesa, and two Yucaipa residents, aged 23 and 21. After a Riverside County sheriff's investigation, only Heberden was taken to jail with Ramirez. However, Heberden posted a $30,000 bond and was released hours later.

According to sheriff's Sgt. Jaime Hernandez, the men allegedly confronted a clerk at a 7-Eleven in the 300 block of County Line Road just after midnight Friday. After flashing a handgun, they allegedly escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register, as well as merchandise off the shelves.

Hernandez said when deputies arrived at the location a few minutes later, patrolmen spotted two individuals matching descriptions given for the bandits in the store holdup.

The pair were seen fleeing a Chevron station at 499 Sandalwood Drive, and deputies gave chase as the men sped away in a vehicle that had been parked nearby, the sergeant said.

After the suspects were detained, deputies confirmed that the Chevron station had been robbed, and during the holdup, a shot was fired into the roof of the business, Hernandez said.

Everyone in the car was questioned, culminating in the arrests of Ramirez and Heberden.

No one was injured during either robbery.
