A section of coastal highway south of Tijuana and north of EnsenadaΒ collapsed Saturday after several small earthquakes and recent rains, according to geologists.
Engineers estimate it could take more thanΒ a year to repair the roadway, which could impact tourism and other aspects of the Baja economy.
The toll road, known as Highway 1-D, was closed from La Mision toll gates to San Miguel toll gates, ABC 10 News in San Diego reported.Β Coastal traffic was detoured on the old free highway, Mexico 1.
The landslide is about 10 miles north of Ensenada.Β Drivers could also get back fromΒ Ensenada on Mexico 3.
