Banning, Beaumont City Council Races: CA Election

City Council in Banning and Beaumont are five-member, non-partisan boards. Council members are elected to serve four-year terms.

BANNING, BEAUMONT, CA β€” The 2020 presidential election is here, but local politics arguably have a greater impact on communities. In Banning and Beaumont, residents are picking who they want to represent them for the next four years on their city councils.

In Banning, Districts 1, 2 and 3 are on the ballot. Daniela Andrade, who currently represents District 1, is not running. Instead, voters in the district are choosing between Alberto A. Sanchez and Nick Fraser. In District 2, incumbent Kyle Pingree is running unopposed. Incumbent Art Welch, District 3, is facing challengers Mary Hamlin and George Moyer.

In Beaumont, the city still has an "at-large" election process β€” where voters across the city choose between all candidates on the ballot, regardless of where they live. This year, three candidates are vying for two seats on the council. One of those seats is currently held by Nancy Carroll, who is not running for re-election, and the other is held by Julio Martinez, who is on the ballot. The other two candidates running are Jessica Black and David Fenn.

Each of the city councils consists of five-member, non-partisan boards. City council seats in Banning Districts 4 and 5 will be voted on in 2022. In Beaumont, three city council seats will be up for re-election in 2022.
