Crews Make Progress On Banning Brush Fire

BANNING, CA β€” A brush fire that broke out in Banning Wednesday night charred approximately 75 acres, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department.

The blaze, dubbed the Coyote Fire, was reported at 6:35 p.m. in the area of Old Idyllwild Road, south of Shirleon Drive.

As of 7:30 a.m. Thursday, crews had stopped the blaze's forward progress with 20 percent containment.

Ground and air resources were on scene. In addition to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, U.S. Forest Service crews were also assisting. Total firefighters numbered 140.

No evacuations were ordered.
