Banning Convict Rearrested, Due In Court This Week

The latest charges against Jorge Eagle Lomas include carrying a loaded handgun and causing an injury crash while DUI.

BANNING, CA β€” A convicted felon from Banning, who was recently arrested again, is due in court this week for a felony settlement conference stemming from an injury crash that he allegedly caused while armed and driving under the influence of drugs.

Jorge Eagle Lomas, 26, is charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and causing an injury crash while driving under the influence. He has pleaded not guilty to the three felony counts.

The charges followed his arrest earlier this month by the Banning Police Department. At around 4:30 p.m. on June 16, he allegedly caused an injury crash in the 1500 block of West Ramsey Street. According to police, he was under the influence of drugs.

At the time of his arrest, he was found with a loaded handgun, police said. Lomas has a long criminal history in Riverside County, according to court records. Due to his previous convictions, he is prohibited from possessing a handgun and/or ammunition. Riverside County court records show his criminal activity stretches back more than eight years.

Lomas is scheduled to appear on Wednesday for his felony settlement conference. He is being held at Banning's Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility and is not bailable, according to jail records.
