Banning Fire Destroys Home

Firefighters were called to the scene Sunday afternoon of two separate fires in town.

BANNING, CA β€” Firefighters responded Sunday to two fires that broke out in Banning. The first fire destroyed a home while the second burned at an apartment complex.

The first blaze, reported at 2:51 p.m., burned in a single story house in the 1400 block of W. George Street, near N. 14th Street. The Riverside County Fire Department reports that five engines and one truck were called out to fight the flames.

By 3:17 p.m., the fire was knocked down and by 3:46 p.m. it was contained, the fire department said.

Officials at the scene said the building was believed to be vacant. Images from the scene show the house was destroyed.

About an hour later, crews were then called over to the Windscape Village Apartments on Barbour Avenue. There, they found a small fire burning next to the complex's laundry room.

Crews quickly doused that fire and prevented it from spreading.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
