Banning Killing Under Investigation, Police Say

Police are asking for help in finding whomever is responsible for the deadly shooting.

BANNING, CA β€” Banning police are looking for information related to the killing of a man in town. The homicide happened on Oct. 7 in the the 1200 block of Wyte Way, which is in the area of West Gilman and North 8th streets, police reported Monday.

Police say they went to the location around 11:30 p.m. after getting a call for shots fired in the area.

"Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim who suffered an apparent gunshot wound," police said. "Medical personnel arrived to treat the victim and ultimately transported him to Desert Regional Medical Center..."

The man, who was not immediately identified, died at the hospital a short time later, police said.

"The incident is being investigated as a homicide," police said. "There is limited information at this time and updates will be given as information becomes available."

This is the second homicide in Banning this year, police said.
