Banning Man Suspected Of Raping, Sodomizing Disabled Woman

BANNING, CA β A Banning man suspected of sexually assaulting a special needs woman has been arrested, police announced Tuesday.
Rene Leonel Robles Cerna, 35, was taken into custody Tuesday morning and booked on suspicion of kidnapping, rape, sodomizing a disabled person, and sex with a minor under 14, jail records show.
According to the Banning Police Department, Robles Cerna had been sexually assaulting the woman over several years.

He was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning in lieu of $85,000 bail.
The Banning Police Department is asking anyone who may have additional information about the case to contact its Detective Bureau at 951-922-3170.

In a separate case, court records show Robles Cerna was arrested in October and subsequently charged with driving under the influence. He was due to be arraigned Wednesday in that case.
