Beaumont HS Football Players Suspected In Rose Bowl Locker Room Thefts

Four students are accused of stealing from the Rose Bowl locker room during a college game. Coach Deion Sanders demands the items returned.

BEAUMONT, CA β€” As Colorado State battled the UCLA Bruins in October, a break-in occurred in the away team's locker room. Four Beaumont High School students are suspected of stealing players' personal items from lockers, according to numerous reports. The suspects are all juveniles and students at Beaumont High School, and at least two of them are believed to be high school football players "unofficially visiting" the UCLA game, according to a report from the LA Times.

The case is under review by the district attorney's office, said Pasadena spokesperson Lisa Derderian, and no arrests have been made.

After the Bruins vs. Buffaloes game on Oct. 28, Coach Deion Sanders reported to the Rose Bowl staff and the NCAA that his players and staff returned to the locker room to discover the thefts, according to USA Today Sports and the Los Angeles Times. At least three people were missing jewelry and cash, while others were missing items such as headphones. Since then, some of the missing items were returned while others were held as evidence by the Pasadena Police.

"We are disappointed and disheartened to hear of the alleged involvement of Beaumont High School students in the incident at the UCLA-Colorado football game on Oct. 28. We strive to promote strong character and integrity in our students, and the alleged actions do not represent our core values as a school, District, and community. While the students were not at the UCLA-Colorado football game as part of a school-sponsored event, the District is cooperating fully with Pasadena Police Department's investigation."

Though the students are juveniles and were not named, at least two were football prospects, according to claims made on "The Coach JB Show" podcast, as reported by BuffsBeat on SI.com. During the podcast, two players from Beaumont High School named concerning the Rose Bowl theft were discussed in detail.

"He said the information was shared with him by the player's coach," according to the report.

UCLA Athletics told USA Today Sports that the students from Beaumont High School were not on an "official recruiting visit," according to the report.

The investigation is ongoing.
