Beaumont Library Summer Program Has Activities for All Ages
"A Universe of Stories" is the 2019 summer reading theme for children, teens, and adults

Beaumont Library's summer reading program, "A Universe of Stories," kicked off on June 14 and will continue in June and July with a slate of activities for all ages.
The "big splash" will take place at the Plunge on Friday, June 21--the first day of summer--with the Library's Summer Reading Pool Party from 6 to 9 p.m. This is a free event, but space is limited and only the first 200 will be admitted. There will be free hot dogs, kettle corn, popsicles, and drinks, so come early and stay late!
Summer reading is open to everyone. You can pick up your reading log and start working toward earning free books and raffle tickets for grand prizes offered in your age category.

For ages 0-5, parents can read five books to their child (or the child can read on his or her own, if able) to receive a free book and raffle ticket. For every ten books read thereafter, another raffle ticket can be earned. Additional raffle tickets can be earned by attending an Outreach program (a Tuesday show at Chatigny, a Storytime at the Grange, or SOAR at Wildlands in Oak Glen, etc.).
The grand prizes for this age group include a DIY Rocket Spaceship, goody bags, and more. Programs include our Storytime at Chatigny on Mondays, Toddler Storytime on Tuesdays, All Ages Storytime at the Grange on Tuesdays, Preschool Storytime on Thursdays, and our Family Show on Fridays.

In addition, there will be entertaining and educational performances for the whole family throughout the summer program. For example, beginning June 21 "Christopher the Magician" will be one of five weekly shows at 10:30 a.m. on Fridays at the Library. He will also be the first of three weekly shows at Noon on Tuesdays at the Chatigny Community Center when he appears on June 25. For more details, check the library website.

The Grand Prize is a brand-new Lenovo Chromebookβmade possible with the funds donated by Friends of the Beaumont Library.
Most teen programs will be Mondays at 3 p.m. Game Day is on Thursdays at 3 p.m. Special events include Painting with the Art Barn, the Video Game Trailer, How to Draw Anime, and a BMX bike show. For a complete list of events, pick up an SRC Log at the Cherry Festival starting May 30.
