Beaumont Student Artwork Takes Center Stage At Local Park

Beaumont officials unveiled the new display at Wildflower Park.

BEAUMONT, CA β€” Park goers at Beaumont's Wildflower Park now have an added bonus when visiting: an art exhibit, courtesy of some talented young students! The display was unveiled Thursday by the Beaumont Unified School District and city leaders.

"This artwork is a wonderful opportunity for our kids to show their talents and contribute to the beauty of our community," Beaumont City Manager Todd Parton said at the ribbon-cutting event.

Artwork, housed in a custom-built glass display, is provided by the students of nearby Anna Hause Elementary School and will be rotated out every two weeks or so through the end of the school year, according to school officials.

Next year, students from every grade will have an opportunity to participate in the community project. And additional displays are in the works for other parks and schools, officials said.

"We're looking forward to having more of these out to display the work that our kids do," Beaumont Mayor Mike Lara said.

At the event, BUSD's newest leader spoke about her hopes for the upcoming school year.

"I'm so excited to be back in the Beaumont community... I am so blessed to come back to Beaumont and serve in the capacity of the superintendent," Superintendent Mays Kakish said.

"I'm looking forward to opening our schools, in person, full-time, all day, five days a week; looking forward to us recovering from this very unprecedented year and time for our kids and our families," she continued. "Just know that all of our staff at the district are working so hard to plan a robust summer school, a robust opening of the new school year, and bringing a lot of resources where there might be gaps as we open and get back in business."

Wildflower Park is located in the Sundance community, off of Oak Valley Parkway and Starlight Avenue.
