Bee Attack Reported In Banning

Fire officials say two people were hospitalized in the weekend incident.

BANNING, CA β€” Two people were hospitalized over the weekend after being attacked by bees in Banning, the Riverside County Fire Department reports.

The incident happened around 12:24 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of East Indian School Lane, near Hargave Street.

"Upon arrival [firefighters] treated two patients with stings," Cal Fire said. "[One patient] was stung over 100 times and was transported by ground to a local β€ͺhospital."

Another person, who had "a handful of stings," declined additional treatment at the scene but drove themself to the hospital.

It was unclear what triggered the bee attack.
