LOS ANGELES, CA β As the weekend wraps up, we've rounded up all the stories you may have missed Saturday and Sunday to prepare you for Monday.
But before we jump into Southern California's top stories, the Golden State is in for a big cooldown to kick off May. After a toasty run of summerlike weather, SoCal will flip the script and see unseasonably chilly temperatures and rain for most of the workweek.
"A late season storm will push into the region Monday with little movement through Wednesday before departing the region by Friday," the National Weather Service wrote Sunday. "This pattern will support increasing rain and mountain snow chances Monday through Wednesday or Thursday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible later in this time period."

While forecasters are not expecting anything too significant by way of rain totals, some parts of SoCal could log close to a half-inch by late in the week. The National Weather Service notes San Diego typically sees just three days of rain in May, which it is likely to accomplish in just the first few days of the month.

Catching up on the weekend: Investigators in Los Angeles County are working to determine who left a newborn child for dead in the Whittier Narrows Recreation Area, and a man accused of hitting and killing a toddler while driving drunk last year will stand trial on a murder charge. Search teams located a small plane that went missing between Santa Monica and Van Nuys, and a Riverside massage therapist is accused of sexual assault.
