HEMET, CAβ€”A brush fire that erupted Wednesday on the west end of Hemet split into two fires, scorching four acres and threatening several homes as crews deployed to contain them.

The main non-injury blaze was reported about 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Devonshire Avenue and Warren Road, just inside the city limits, according to the Hemet Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames spreading quickly through a field on the north side of Devonshire, while a smaller fire that had split off from the primary blaze burned on the south side of the two-lane corridor.
