CA Election 2020 Results: Beaumont Unified School District

The Beaumont Unified School District is guided by a Governing Board composed of five publicly elected officials.

BEAUMONT, CA β€” A Beaumont Unified School District board seat was on the ballot this year β€” Trustee Areas 1. Election Night vote counting is complete and, although results are not final, a leader emerged Wednesday. (See the live tallies below.)

In the BUSD's Trustee Area 1, incumbent Brian Sylva is running for a seat on the Mt. San Jacinto Community College District board of trustees, so voters will decide between two candidates: Kevin Palkki, an educator, and Shawn Mitchell, a retired Beaumont USD principal.

As of Wednesday, Mitchell was leading by just under 500 votes.

The results are not final. Approximately 400,000 vote-by-mail and 25,000 provisional ballots still must be processed in Riverside County. Work on those began Wednesday morning. Ballots that are postmarked on or before Election Day also remain to be counted. The next updated results will be posted at 6 p.m. Thursday.

It's unclear how many Trustee Area 1 ballots remain uncounted.
