Caltrans To Update Idyllwild Community On SR-74, SR-243

IDYLLWILD, CA — Caltrans officials will share updates Tuesday on road work along two primary routes into Idyllwild ravaged by mass flooding earlier this year.

Emergency road work along Highways 74 and 243 began in February 2019. A portion of Highway 243 has remained closed since a storm last Valentine's Day washed away several stretches of roadway, Caltrans spokesman Shane Massoud said, necessitating emergency road work along the thoroughfare.

Since then, road crews have been rebuilding damaged areas. Work includes replacing culverts, rebuilding embankments, removing rock and debris away from the highway, Massoud said.

The meeting is set for 6 to 8 p.m. at Idyllwild School at 26700 Highway 243.
