
A car slammed into a utility pole in DesertΒ Hot Springs early Sunday and caused a power outage that initially affected 2,500Β homes and businesses, a Southern California Edison spokeswoman said.
SCE officials received a call at 2:37 a.m. Dec. 22Β about the outage, and sentΒ repairmen to Camino Aventura, east of Palm Drive where the crash happened,Β spokeswoman Lois Pitter Bruce said.
Work crews were replacing the damaged pole and 518 accounts were leftΒ without power by midday, Bruce said. An estimated time of when all power wouldΒ be restored was not immediately known, she said.
