Deadly Crash In San Timoteo Canyon Reported

The crash prompted major delays through the canyon Monday afternoon.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA β€” A motorist was killed Monday in a head-on collision just north of Moreno Valley that was triggered when a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatality happened about 12:20 p.m. on Redlands Boulevard, about a quarter-mile south of San Timoteo Canyon Road, the CHP reported.

According to preliminary reports from the agency, a motorist going northbound on Redlands veered into southbound traffic, slamming into a truck. Another vehicle was also involved, but no details were available.

Paramedics pronounced the motorist whose vehicle struck the truck dead at the scene. The victim's name was not immediately released.

One person suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether the party was taken to a hospital.

The CHP shut down Redlands at the crash scene for over two hours to conduct a preliminary investigation and remove the vehicles.
