Dehydrated Palm Springs Hiker Airlifted to Safety
The hiker called 911 at 6:05 p.m. Sunday to report he had been hiking all day and was in medical distress on the Skyline hiking trail.

A hiker who ran out of water and became weak and dehydrated on a mountain trail was recovering Monday after being airlifted to safety.
The hiker, whose name was withheld, called 911 at 6:05 p.m. Sunday to report he had been hiking all day and was in medical distress on the Skyline hiking trail, which has a trailhead near the Palm Springs Art Museum at 101 Museum Way, Sgt. Erik Larson said.

Palm Springs police officers and firefighters went up the trail and located the hiker. A helicopter airlifted him to a waiting ambulance, which took him to a local hospital for treatment, Larson said.
