DUI Checkpoint Scheduled Friday In Pass Area

SAN GORGONIO PASS AREA, CA β The California Highway Patrol announced it will hold a DUI checkpoint this weekend in the San Gorgonio Pass Area.
The checkpoint will be operational from 8:30 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday in an unnamed unincorporated community, the agency announced Wednesday.
"The sobriety checkpoint will be staffed by CHP officers who are trained in the detection of
alcohol and/or drug-impaired drivers," according to the announcement. "Officers will also be equipped with state-of-the-art hand-held breath testing devices which provide an accurate measure of blood alcohol concentration of suspected drunk drivers. Offenders will be processed at the checkpoint and booked at either the Southwest Detention Facility or the Larry D. Smith Detention Facility."

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to the announcement.
