Earthquake Rattles Riverside County

The small quake Friday afternoon was epicentered in Loma Linda and could be felt as far away as Lancaster.

LOMA LINDA, CA β€” A magnitude 3.1 earthquake epicentered in Loma Linda struck Friday afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The temblor struck about 4:56 p.m., and it was centered about one mile from Redlands, one mile from San Bernardino, one mile from Colton and two miles from Grand Terrace. The quake occurred at a depth of 9.4 miles. It was felt in parts of Orange County and as far away as Pasadena and Lancaster.

An average of 234 earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 to 4.0 occur per year in California and Nevada, according to a recent three-year data sample.

The quake caused no reported damage or injuries.
