Excessive Heat Watch Issued Across Banning, Beaumont

The weeklong heat wave comes before summer officially starts.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA β€” Riverside County residents should brace for extreme heat all next week, the National Weather Service said Thursday.

The NWS has issued an excessive heat watch that will go into effect at 10 a.m. Monday and extend to 9 p.m. next Friday β€” warning of "dangerously hot" triple-digit conditions.

A weather service forecaster said a "watch" is typically a precursor to a more severe "warning," which will likely be issued sometime closer to Monday.

The weather service said the extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

Residents of affected areas are urged to monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.

People should be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.

While young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances, the weather service said that's especially true during warm or hot weather β€” when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
