Suicide Suspected In Beaumont Crash
The incident was reported Tuesday afternoon, between 6th Street and Interstate 10 on Highland Springs Avenue.

BEAUMONT, CA β A male pedestrian who was struck and killed Tuesday in Beaumont may have committed suicide, authorities said.
The incident was reported at 3:01 p.m. on Highland Springs Avenue, between 6th Street and Interstate 10.

"The Beaumont Police Department began receiving 911 calls reporting a pedestrian in the road who had been struck by a tractor-trailer," the Beaumont PD said.
When officers arrived at the crash site, they found the person lying in southbound lanes. Despite life-saving measures, he died at the scene.

"Initial witness statements and other evidence gathered by officers indicate the subject may have intentionally thrown himself in front of the passing truck," the police department reported.
No one else was injured in the crash, and no arrests were publicly announced.
The victim's identity will not be released pending notification of next of kin.
The incident forced the closure of Highland Springs Avenue for several hours Tuesday afternoon.
