Felon Deportee Indicted, Accused Of Distributing Child Porn

A federal grand jury in Riverside handed down the indictment and accuse the man of posting child pornography on social media.

RIVERSIDE, CA β€” A 50-year-old Salvadoran national who illegally re- entered the U.S. after being deported based on a felony sex conviction was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury in Riverside for allegedly posting child pornography on social media.

Jose Ramon Aguilar Moreno was indicted on charges of possession of child porn, distribution of child porn, failure to register as a convicted sex offender and being an illegal alien in the U.S. following deportation, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Moreno is slated to be arraigned July 5 in U.S. District Court in Riverside. He's being held without bail at a federal detention center in San Bernardino County.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, the defendant was arrested June 13 at a residence in Fontana, following a joint investigation by U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service.

The investigation revealed that in June 2018, Moreno, using the alias "Abel Aguilar," posted three videos on Facebook showing minors engaged in sex acts, court papers allege.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children uncovered the images and alerted law enforcement, federal prosecutors said.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Moreno illegally entered the country in 1986, and in 1995, he applied for asylum, which was granted five years later by the U.S. Immigration & Naturalization Service.

In August 2002, he was convicted in San Bernardino County Superior Court of lewd acts on a child, resulting in a one-year prison sentence. Moreno was taken into custody by ICE agents at the completion of his term and was deported back to El Salvador, prosecutors said.

Authorities do not know exactly when he returned to the U.S. after being deported.

If convicted of all charges, Moreno could face up to 80 years in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.
