Reche Canyon Fire Now Mapped At 350 Acres
UPDATED: The #RecheFire broke out amid strong winds Thursday afternoon and spread to an estimated 350 acres.

MORENO VALLEY, CA β Firefighters have worked through the night to contain a growing fire in the Reche Canyon area, just north of Moreno Valley and west of Beaumont, the Riverside County Fire Department reports.
The fire burned an estimated 350 acres as of Friday morning, and is 40% contained with forward spread stopped, according to the Riverside County Fire Department. Power lines in the area are threatened, Cal Fire said on Twitter.

"Firefighters are working in very steep, inaccessible terrain," the fire department said.
Mandatory evacuations have been lifted, after being issued Thursday afternoon for homes north of Country Road on Reche Vista Road and Covey Road from Perris Boulevard to the dead end; and on Reche Canyon Road, east of Reche Vista Drive and west of Locust Avenue.

The Red Cross has opened a care and reception center at Canyon Springs High School, 23100 Cougar Canyon Road in Moreno Valley.
Large and small animals may be taken to the San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, located at 581 S. Grand Avenue, in San Jacinto. If residents are unable to get to their pets and need help to evacuate pets, call (951) 358-7387.
The blaze was first reported in the area of Reche Canyon Road, near Reche Vista Drive, at 12:54 p.m., according to fire reports. Within an hour, it had spread to an estimated 100 acres, officials tell Patch.
The fire was first reported as a trailer fire that had spread to some nearby vegetation, according to the fire department.
