Full Westbound Badlands Closure Delayed: UPDATED

UPDATE: Transportation officials on Friday afternoon announced that the scheduled closure for this weekend has been delayed. They did not provide a reason for the postponement, but said to expect it to occur in the coming weeks.

"The previously announced weekend lane closures for Sept. 14-15 have been postponed," the RCTC said. "A weekend full closure of westbound 60 and single lane closure of eastbound 60 is coming soon; watch for dates. This closure will allow crews to remove large rocks from the hillside without affecting motorist safety."

BEAUMONT, CA — As the the 60 Truck Lanes Project continues through the Badlands area between Beaumont and Moreno Valley, motorists are being warned of another upcoming closure.

Coming up on Saturday, Sept. 14 and Sunday, Sept. 15, the westbound side of the highway is slated be closed in the project area and only one eastbound lane will be open. That closure is set to begin at 4 a.m. on Saturday and last until 8 p.m. on Sunday.

This is all in addition to a 6-month closure of one lane of the westbound side of the roadway, which started last week.

"This weekend closure will allow crews to safely remove large rocks from the hillside without danger to passing motorists," the RCTC said. "Please use alternate routes during this closure."
